Is Your Sewage Treatment And Disposal Unit Acting Up? Signs That You Need Septic Tank Services

A septic tank is essential in ensuring that your wastewater is filtered and disposed of in a way that will not harm or contaminate the environment. That said, a septic tank can fail because of poor upkeep or design, leaving you with a backed-up system and a messy clean-up job. However, you can easily avoid such misfortunes by conducting regular pumping, maintenance, and performing necessary repairs.

If you are not sure when to call for septic cleaning services, look for the following signs.

Your Drains Clog Frequently or Water Moves Slowly

As you are aware, a backup in your drain system will leave you with poorly draining toilets, showers, and sinks.  As such, you will either have to keep unclogging your sinks or deal with slow draining water. If this is the case, it is best to let an expert clear the clog and prevent it from reoccurring.

You Hear Gurgling Sounds

Chances are you know normal sounds of water and waste moving through your drains, so once you start to hear gurgling sounds in your septic system, you know it's time to pump it.

Failure to confirm the extent of the problem leaves you with no space for your wastewater and a likelihood of flooding. Gurgling sounds could also indicate a drain field failure or a blockage between pipes; hence, it is best to call your septic tank expert to resolve the issue.

There Is a Bad Smell All Over Your Property

A full septic tank often leads to flooding or wastewater puddles, leading to a bad odor around the septic tank area. Also, air will have no room to escape with a full septic tank and will likely end up in your drain system, toilet, or shower drain, causing the entire house to stink.

Unfortunately, no amount of air freshener can clear this bad odor, and you will need to call for septic tank services to deal with the issue.

There Is Standing Water in Your Yard

Not only does a full tank cause gurgling sounds and bad odor, but it can overflow, causing water to pool at various points in your yard. If you notice pools of water, especially where the septic tank is, or if you notice patches of overgrown grass, you should call for emergency septic tank services.

If the tank is not pumped soon, it can cause a sewer to back up, making it harder to deal with.

If you notice any of the signs mentioned above, you should have your septic tank pumped at once. And to avoid a recurrence of septic tank issues, have the tank serviced as often as needed.
